she was SO READY to gush about Marina she was SO THERE for the chance and when it came she didn't even have to THINK

her going from casual barely-worth-my-time roasts and boasts (talking over Frye's turn like she isn't even there) to 'did you just call marina an imaginary friend?? YO ARE YOU CRAZY SHES AMAZING'

and THEN instead of getting defensive or pissed at Frye's 'oh so she's your groupie' jab she just turns hype man literally goes AS IF! LISTEN TO THIS! before bowing out so Marina can freeze Shiver solid by cheerfully taking every passive aggressive compliment from Shiver with a smile, a hearts eyes emoji, and an uno reverse card

Shiver: "Your voice is so haunting (possibly in a bad way) must be nice for your fans (implying it isn't so nice for anyone else)"

Marina, mimicking Shiver's singing: "You're far too kind! (i see you insulting me on the sly) Love your vibe! (that's very cute~) I can learn so much from your style! (i'll give you a taste of your own medicine if you want me to~)"

Shiver: "You remind me of my neighbor's daughter- (grow up) what do they say? Octo see octo do? (stop copying me)"

Marina: "Glad you approve- (im rubber you're glue) your praise has left me moved (not saying what KIND of moved tho). Thanks to your notes (you decide if i mean your feedback or your actual ability to hit musical notes) I'll find my own groove! (you're not actually worth copying for real~)"

Shiver: "Oh, look at the time. Isn't it getting late? (if you keep acting like a kid im going to treat you like one)"

and then Pearl barges in with a HOW'S THAT? YOU HAD ENOUGH YET??????

like kudos to Shiver and Frye for laying out some slick jabs, but they were working as two solo acts and didn't have a power couple combo move to counter Pearlina's with m(_ _)m ....they spent the whole time on offensive defense, trying to inflict some deep lyrical cuts while Pearl and Marina were happily tossing out hooks and reeling in fresh lines as they floated high up above on their dumb little rainbow cloud together

legit Pearl's only real reaction to Frye is her going <3 <3 <3 at Marina, and Marina not even treating Shiver as someone she needs to fight with while Shiver repeatedly tries poking at her, which Pearl sees and just effing LOVES ....amazing.......

no matter who you think rapped better, it's pretty clear which pair had the most fun and got the most kicks out of this (the wives)

(okay i was going about my day yesterday but i really couldn't get the merman au out of my head😭😭 i just imagine for a while somehow geto managed to sneak satoru into the palace and then it's a whole ordeal trying to hide him. panicked geto and oblivious gojo and really for all that image is stuck in my head i still have yet to write a proper interaction w them but!! it's not proofread so sorry if there are mistakes and it's a bit scattered but i had to get this one scene out that was brewing in my mind so🥺 ignore this if you want❗️❗️)

From the mezzanine, everyone looked like ants. Suguru had to squint to make out familiar faces in the crowd, and even then, the only person he could identify was a distant aunt of his that he had never really liked. Usually, he'd have been able to pick apart anyone of significance; he'd have known their name, their title, their interests. 

Suguru would've known, he always memorises the details before public events — he spends days in his room at a time, talking into the mirror and telling his reflection things about these people who he has never met. Perhaps, lately, he'd been busy with Satoru.

Suguru smiled. He didn't feel as guilty as he thought he would.

A hand clapped on his back, and he jolted. Shoko beside him, cocking a brow. “What's got you looking like a dumbass?” Her voice was flat, eyes busy scanning the crowd and Suguru knew who she was looking for.

He cleared his throat. He couldn't really tell her that he was keeping a siren in the little pond in his private garden — well, it wasn't exactly little, but that information held no relevance anyway. Shoko was his dear friend, and he knew she would always support him, but he had to keep Satoru a secret, more for her sake. Suguru bit his lip in thought. If only Satoru didn't have such a strong taste for human flesh.

“Is meat more nutritious than fish?”

“What?”

“Nevermind.” Suguru winced at the look he was being sent. He didn't mean to blurt the question out, but he'd been thinking about it for days. The salmon that he'd been feeding Satoru probably wasn't enough to sustain a creature his size — especially when he was so active — which would mean he burnt through a lot of calories very quickly. “Utahime is on the balcony,” Suguru pointed in the general direction, giving Shoko a pat on the shoulder, “good luck.”

From his peripheral vision, he could see Shoko roll her eyes as he walked away, but she muttered a small 'thanks' before she turned to find the other woman. He was glad she finally had someone to open up to other than him — he saw how happy Shoko was with Utahime, and with the burden of inheriting the throne giving her sleepless nights, it was all Suguru could want for his closest friend.

He turned his attention back to the winding flight of stairs before him. Now, to find some meat.

You don’t dare meet her golden eyes as she takes the lid off the blue cream container

Still, you know they’re set on you

She’s silent for a moment, as though processing your words after you explained how you sustained these injuries

Nothing major, really, just a few scratches on your knees and legs, and a scratched open chin when you made friends with the floor

You watch her index fingertip dip into the cream, and hiss when she gently smears it across your bruised knees

It’s cold, but comfortably so. Like Aloe Vera cream, you think

She’s gentle with her movements, precise and calm

You know, she was freaking out immediately when she found you on the floor of the main hall, clutching your knees tightly because they burned so much

Now, with the cream covering the red bruises, they hardly still sting

Her touch is so soothing, so calm and soft, you almost feel lulled to sleep

Your eyes close for a moment, too comfortable and just right and cozy in this moment

“So let me get this right…”, she hums

Your eyes open up again immediately

You bite your bottom lip, nervous, and still don’t dare look at her golden eyes

You wonder, though. Are they scolding? Are they mean? Are they playful?

Bela can be so intimidating at times!

…even as she is literally kneeling with you sitting on the bed in front of you, her fingers gently applying cream to your sore knees and legs

She’s so gentle…yet you feel so embarrassed for getting hurt in such a way

It’s a little silly, and so you feel the tips of your ears reddening with a warm blush even as she recollects what you’ve told her

“So…you raced down the stairs…with a sledge…because Cassandra said it’s just like racing down a snow covered hill?”

You gulp

You don’t think you have the strength to answer her. Bela sounds so stern…

You feel your cheeks heating up in embarrassment

“And you fell off the sledge…rolled- down the stairs- and hit your head on the floor?”

You gulp again, her light fingertips suddenly feeling so hard

You feel her apply some cream to your other knee

“Draga, you realize Cassandra has never ridden a sledge?”. She sighs, and tips your head up

She leans close, and for a moment you think she’ll kiss you, and you smile eagerly

Instead, she focused on the small scratches on your forehead and wipes some of the cream over it

You whine, which catches her attention

With a roll of her eyes and a fond smile, she kisses you

She tips your head up again, your eyes at last finding golden ones

She looks at you, a playful smirk on her lips

“Don’t let me catch you do something like that again”

Cassandra

She’s staring at you- no, not merely staring

Glaring

“Good morning”, you whisper nervously, even though you know the clock reads 3:29am

Cassandra eyes your finger, and groans at the blood that runs down your index fingertip

“Why would you poke my fangs?”, she grunts out, a long and loud sigh passing her lips when you shrug

“Stay.”, she groans, her flies buzzing in irritation as she rises from the bed and retrieves bandages

You can’t help but grin to yourself; Cassandra is such a grumpy bug when she’s woken up

Still, she looks adorable with the frown on her face and her hair uncombed and rough looking from twisting and turning in bed

She licks her teeth clean subtly, a small smile coming to her lips when she tastes your blood in her mouth

She huffs as she sits back on the bed, her golden eyes blinking tiredly at you

You’d think a predator like her is ready to be up at any time, ready for whatever

Clearly not. The brunette is eying her pillow yearningly

You hiss a little as she licks the blood from your finger and sucks the wound clean, never one to pass up on a snack

“Help yourself…”, you mutter, yet only blush and look down at the bedsheets when golden eyes glare are you

“T’is the least you can do…after wakin’ me…”, she mumbles

Again, you almost laugh a little. It seems your girlfriend is one grumpy little thing in the morning at night

Still, with care and precision, she works on wrapping first a small, then a slightly bigger bandage around your finger

Soon, you feel the bleeding stop and even the stinging pain is reduced again

Thankfully, you haven’t cut yourself too much, just enough for your fingertip to bleed

“Will you now give me an explanation as to why I’m waking up with your finger in my mouth?”, she asks again

You force yourself not to smile. Her flies are buzzing in irritation and it’s adorable to you

You shrug again, and at last can’t fight the small smile that makes it to your lips

“I wanted to feel how sharp your teeth are”, you simply reason

Cassandra rolls her eyes at this

Naturally, they were sharp as blades. She makes sure of that, after all, each day

“Next time this happens, I’ll bite your finger off”, she warns

Really, it’s a surprise she didn’t automatically bite down upon feeling you prod her tooth

With a final adjustment to your bandaged finger, swarms back under the warm blanket, her butt wiggling as she basks in the warmth, her eyes closing contently

Well, for a moment anyway

You watch her get comfortable yet again, and stare wide eyed when golden eyes open to look at you

“Are you gonna watch me sleep next?”

At her statement you quickly lay down as well, chuckling as she rests her head on your chest

For a few moments, it’s quiet

Still, you can’t refrain from asking:

“Do you think it’ll scar?”

“I should hope so…”

Daniela

She smells your blood, even rooms away, and is immediately on her way

As she calls for your name, your face flushes pink

This is going to be embarrassing…

“My love! Are you all-right? What happened?!”, she gasps, her hand grasping yours, the other holding your injured one

“I-uhm”

Daniela raises an eyebrow

She notices, no one else is in the kitchen. Just you, a cutting board, a large knife, and a carrot

You grit your teeth as you see it

Maybe you’re losing it, but you could swear it’s mocking you!

Her head pulls back a little as she seems to understand

“You cut yourself?”, she gasps, sweet, bright eyes widen at her discovery

You wince as she grasps your hand tighter, the blood flowing from it

Immediately, she presses a stack of napkins against the wound

This makes you hiss again, and has her golden eyes set on you apologetically

“My poor, sweet love…”, she coos, and you can’t help but grin at the small kiss that’s set to your chin.

She’s fast to drag you with her, your uninjured arm grabbed to tug you after her

“It’s really nothing!”, you insist, despite the throbbing pain in your hand

Maybe it’ll heal on its own? You don’t want to get stitches, you really don’t

Daniela is fast to explain the situation to the castle’s doctor, her hand moving to your back to steady you

For a moment, you feel lightheaded

Then, you’re sat down

Daniela holds onto your uninjured hand as the woman moves around you, collecting this and that you have no idea about

Thankfully, you haven’t had many run ins with the castle’s doctor yet

Still, she seems kind, and skilled

Using a lollipop as bait, she gently guides Daniela’s hands from you in order to have a better look at the injury

You whine momentarily as she cleans the wound, and groan when she already reaches for a syringe, then a needle

Of course…

At last, a kiss pressed to your cheek cheers you up again

“My brave little human”, she coos

Daniela nearly plops down on your lap, as if forgetting your injuries and where you are

A pointed stare from the woman has her stand straight again

“Perhaps, you could bring some water and a snack, Lady Daniela?”

You smile when the redhead immediately follows the sweetly spoken command and buzzes off

You gulp as you look at the woman in front of you. Her reassuring smile does little…

Shortly after your head stops throbbing and the pain starts to fade at last, Daniela returns

The bright smile on her face is enough to make you grin back at her from your position on the chair

“I’ve got you something that’ll cheer you up!”

You don’t know whether to laugh, scoff, cry or groan when Daniela holds out a plate with neatly cut carrots on top

“I brought you your snack!”

YELLOW1!!1 it's been a hot minute since I sent in an ask!

Since pokemon has really come to bite my butt, I wonder what kinda pokemon Mei and Macaque would have! (I'd guess Mei would have a gyrados for some reason, but it makes sense to me and that's good enough!)

the LMK storyboard director (Ashe Jacobson) actually made pokemon cards for the LMK gang based on her hcs of them! Although they were made during S1/2 and likely don't reflect current ideas or fanon (also too many legendaries for my taste). Also no Sandy card :(

Things I do love about each though:

He/They pronoun MK. MK having bunch of little monkey pokemon. Plus a Krabby for some reason. Also Age: Unknown foreshadowing... instead of the legendaries I could see him having a Ground type like a Gligar (cheeky bat pokemon based on a tyoe of Japanese yokai) or a Swinub (snow boar piglet).

Red Son out here with all the pronouns and a bunch of poor Bug/Steel types about to get melted XD. Honestly surprised that he doesn't have a Tauros. The Houndoom seems like an Erlang pokemon though, Red Son seems more of a Torchic kinda guy. I could also give him a legednary like Chi-Yu; a little piece of primordial fire based on the Chinese Great Peril of Hundun/Confusion.

Mei def deserves a Gyardos - no fault to Rayquaza but no legendaries allowed. Rapidash is perfect for her, but perhaps a shiny to fit her theme a little more + she def would be a Shiny hunter. Sceptile is a more subtle choice since it's a lizard pokemon with one of the highest base speed stats (450) and has sword-like leafy protrusions. I've seen ideas for her having a Blitzle (electric zebra pokemon) as well since it just seems like a Her pokemon to have.

I just love Tang having Shedinja (the cicada husk pokemon) partially because it falls into a little theory I have of him >:3 + Golden Cicada connection. Chimecho is also based on a type of shinto warding bell used to scare off spirits - a useful pokemon for a priest/superstitious nerd to have. The Hoothoot is adorable, he's just here cus of nerdiest. Spoink is based on a bible verse about casting wisdom to those who won't appriciate it (pearls before swine) so thats pretty Tang-coded. The Shuckle makes me think of Noodles and the infamous "don't fuckle with the Shuckle"-meme because of it's ability to become the most lethal attack pokemon under the right circumstances. Tang deserves another non-legendary tho so lets give him an artifact pokemon like a Golett or Baltoy for him to nerd about (and struggle to carry).

Pigsy has pigs. You know if Gen IX was out he'd have a LeChonk no question about it. The Munchlax is super adorable since is a hungry baby pokemon (reminds him of MK?), and the Clefable could be a hint at his amazing singing voice. Blipbug is a ladybird larva aka a "bookworm" pokemon - you know he got that one cus of Tang. The Ambipom is interesting tho - extra hands in the kitchen obvs, but maybe hinting at his incarnation's connection to SWK. I could def see him having "food"-type pokemon around too like Smoliv, Milcery, and/or Tatsugiri.

+Tang and Pigsy both have a pokemon that reminds them of eachother omg; Spoink and Blipbug. Perhaps the Spoink is (Pigsy's) Grumpig's baby?

Wukong using his flattering game art for his ID is very in-character of him XD. Most of his pokemon are really on the nose too - Infernape is legit based on him after all. I excuse the use of legendary pokemon (esp Landorus since it's a earth/cloud god pokemon) for him too since thats what he is. The most recent legendary pokemon is uber-Wukong coded tho - Pecharunt, based on the Peaches of Immortality combined with the japanese folktale of Momotaro + japanese death mythology. I could see Wukong also walking around with a bunch of horse (Mudsdale) and fruit pokemon (Boundsweet, Cherubi) as well. Maybe even having a team thats made of up pokemon that remind him of his old friends.

Macaque having a Zoroark and Zarude is super genius. Zoroark is a mimicry pokemon (based on kitsunes/huli-jings) and that checks out with what Macaque tried doing in the novel - also reminds me of my hc that Jiuweihuli took him under her wing. Zarude is a spooky legendary monkey pokemon obvs, but it's introduced in it's debut movie as "Dada" by the human it raised - sorta foreshadowing how the FFM baby monkeys really love Macaque. Gengar and Marshadow are great choices for his shadow powers ofc - with Marshow having a "lantern" kind vibe to it. Grimmsnarl I think was choosen based on it's Gigantamax form - it looks a lot like Macaque's Smoke Monster form. I could also see Macaque having a few Sneasels - little dark types based on a wind Yokai. I think that while he'd like sound/music-focused Pokemon, his ears are too sensitive to be around the moves - he'd start running the second he sees a Whimsur.

+Macaque and Wukong have Eevee-lutions that evolve based on high affection depending on time of day. Like the Sun and the Moon everybody. Oddly enough in the pokemon "I Choose You!" movie, Marshadow is considered a "guide" for those chosen by Ho-Oh (which Wukong has), early foreshadowing how Macaque becomes a legit mentor to MK.

Jin and Yin just have duo pokemon that work best together. These two def would buy both versions of a pokemon game so that they could play and trade together. The two NInetails is a cute reference to their mom - the OG Nine-Tailed Vixen. They need a Gourgeist for their Calabash tho.

This is the best i can do rn for poor Sandy; I used a mix of microsoft office word shapes, Imgflip, and the Pokecharms Trainer Id generator (I couldn't figure out how to change the trainer to a custom image).

I gave him Mantine and Lapras cus they're gentle "Ride" pokemon who like carrying people across water. Polteageist cus Tea and secrets. Smergle cus of art. Vivillion cus of the blue butterfly in "To Catch a Leaf" and the Dewpider cus Huntsman. Some more ideas include Dhelmise (the seaweed anchor pokemon), Misdreavus (cus of his necklace), and/or Machamp (wrestling theme in the Scroll of Memory). Lots of cat pokemon too - him and Nanu would get along. He's not a fighter at all - and neither are his pokemon. Don't underestimate them tho - they hit hard.

Additionally; Nezha has all snake pokemon + I can see him having a Charcadet. He's got a Phantump and a Dratini too but don't ask about them.

PIF has a swarm of Castform following her since they can't be blown away by her winds (she treats them like baby wind spirits). DBK has like fifty Tauros of different breeds' and a few Miltanks + a Scovillain who provides him with peppers.

Erlang has a Houndoom and nothing else... except maybe a Lotad who reminds him of his greatest regrets.

Chang'e owes a few bunny pokemon (Scorbunny, Buneary, Azumarill, Bunnelby etc) and an Alcremie, plus a bunch of stray Clefairy-line pokemon (moon origins) and Minior (meterorite/star candy pokemon). She also has a little Rowlet plush that she hugs tightly whenever she goes to sleep (Hou Yi's starter).

I feel like animal demons dont really "own" pokemon cus they see them as fellow demons/monster species. Wukong is an except since his are probably old friends/decended from pokemon he knew back on FFM.

Ummm... Not a smutty thought, but I was having a thought and I'd like our resident yandere enthusiast's opinion. You know Raphael (BG3)? Well, a huge chunk of the fandom is obsessed with him and I know many people who want to jump his bones. The only issue with that is... he's only attracted to himself. So, you know, I guess I am asking what you think it would be like if Raphael really did get interested in Tav/Durge? Does he try to change them? Does he mansplain and manipulate his way into making himself sound reasonable? How does the savior of the city even react to their very powerful, very creeping admire?

As someone who is, in fact, obsessed with Raphael (he's probably my favorite character, and yes, my taste is that bad, and I am choosing him over Halsin, I'm so sorry ;;), I can only tell you that even in my daydreams with him, I agree that it's probably not 'love' what he harbors for someone else but merely 'interest'. But people have married for less, so why worry, lol. All he wants his object of interest to be is... interesting. That's what we can give him! xD (And yes, I do believe I can fix him, but if we're talking Yandere!Raphael, even I give up, lol)

Also, I am one chapter into a Yandere!Raphael story, and I had to ask myself these questions, too, so you came to the right place >:3

After establishing my credentials, here is what I was going off on as to how Raphael could even be seen getting a darling:

Raphael isn't above chasing someone. Not necessarily for very long, but he does make quite a few attempts before sending you to hell (hehe). That is if you are interesting enough to chase. So you need to have something that will keep him holding onto wanting to chase you, be it strength, power, or my personal favorite (and yes, my delulu is that this is one of the reasons he is so interested in the Tav), no interest in him. And he has Korilla stalk Tav; let's never forget that. So, he can be interested in someone and make them majorly uncomfortable while at it.

As narcissistic as he is, he likes it when you do what he says. I am sure he's not above wanting to be admired(considering he admires himself so much and what his goals are). He's all about someone raving about how amazing he is, and if they prove to be useful, then their soul is twice as valuable to have. There is value in raising and shaping the object you desire into what you want them to be, even if it takes some effort. (The same could be said about Mizora if I think about it...)

Strictly speaking, Raphael has someone akin to a darling: Hope. And he clearly is amused by and keeps tormenting her. I am not usually one to encourage more than one darling, but I am willing to forgo Hope's darling status and say she'd be an excellent support to a darling because she's so optimistic still? Despite the torture, she seemed pretty courageous. She could influence the darling, which, in turn, makes them more interesting again. The principle is: He did it once, nothing is stopping him from doing it again. And clearly, he can be interested in people other than himself. (Not to say that his darling will always have his full attention all the time only on them, but I do see that he'd have a good reason to come back to the House of Hope to check on them because the thought of them lures him back.)

(There are surely more reasons I came up with, but it's been almost three months since I wrote my story, so I honestly can't remember lol...)

As to what he'd do with them... it depends on what the backstory is like. What he wants from his darling and how his darling reacts depends greatly on the situation. There is always the good ol' "boredom" excuse but in such a big world with so many possibilities there can always be a good reason how he comes into possession of his darling and why he keeps them.

In most cases, I think he'd try to break them, use them for his own means, manipulate them into turning away from what they've known/loved and towards worshipping him, or simply want to see their suffering. It's a matter of what kind of interest he has in the darling.

In some research I did (and sorry, I cannot find the source, and it might be wrong since I'm not really into the DnD lore that much), I read that even if cambions are raised only with the "good" parent, they'd still be evil by nature. So yeah. Overall, it's a big game for him. It's fun. Watching you lose the light in your eyes or cave in and do as he says no matter how degrading it is. Raphael just wants to control you and have his way exactly how he wants it, but he doesn't mind breaking down your resistance piece by piece over a certain amount of time until he has you exactly where he wants you to be and how he wants you to be. It makes things more interesting and you more valuable. And the more you struggle, the better, so do your worst.

But theres something terrifying about him, idk, maybe the random amount of detail, in comparison to let's say, Leliana, Morri in the first game - same shit. Also what did they do to her make up jesus. Also Varric. For 13? years we see the community being absolutely insane about him, begging Bioware to let them romance him. And let's be honest, the Veilguard guy is yassified Varric (Solas too), that's NOT who they were horny for these 13 years ago (not me tho, I am loyal to Isabela. Still, I absolutely get you.)

So I started with the fanarts and I'll end with Veilguard, god bless ADHD. Bioware, leave my "ugly" companions alone ffs. I like them that way.

a) Inquisition did similar shit with Varric for example (Morri I think was supposed to be hot, but the graphics.......)

b) their drawing, their solas. I mean people like to "yassify" characters on fanarts (as my friend noticed, Fenris also usually has a more "basic" face on fanarts, and he already is quite "basic" in DA2) when they like the personality, it's pretty normal. Just a matter of preference, the way you imagine the character and, sometimes, not remembering the source material. So there's nothing wrong about that.

if you read my magnum opus writeup, you may have seen i mentioned three authors that dragged me back into mlp. if you're interested in sciset (and what's probably the most popular eqg fic on the entire site), Long Road to Friendship by Albi is a longfic that started after the first eqg movie and is a rlly lighthearted read. i don't normally care for OCs but gosh if i dont accept Albi's version of trixie's parents as canon in my heart haha. if you're interested in pony adventure fic, i also rlly liked Sunset of Time, another rlly well done longfic ive carried in my brain since i first read it xd

the second author, Monochromatic, aka the raritwi authority aka someone who has a GREAT taste in editors, has written three of the most formative longfic ive ever read: The Enchanted Library, its sequel The Enchanted Kingdom, and Crimson Lips which i unfortunately can no longer link since she's taken it down, but i believe you can still buy physically through PFP if you wanted to take a gamble on it (it would be a very good gamble). apart from her longfic though i also adore some of her shorter works, including but not limited to The Choices We Make, a really interesting Pinkie study that's definitely shaped how i view her, Your Own Worst Enemy, which is just. peak rarity content, and Injuring Eternity, which while being one of her older works still has certain passages that wreck me emotionally on sight.

and the third author responsible for my magnum opus is the one and only Aragon, who i can not only recommend for his fics but ALSO for his blog posts and comics (see the comic index on his profile for links to all of them, as well as this amazing blogpost about his neighbour that is just peak comedy). he's also the writer responsible for the banger longfic Crime and Funishment which absolutely defined my writing aspirations for a few years and is the definition of comedy if you looked it up in my heart, as well as In Hindsight, yet another banger rarity fic, and Love Is In Doom which is just bloody, silly, stupid fun (and has sunset shimmer in it)

and then if we want to talk fics i love written by other authors, Sleepless Knights by r5h has my favourite brand of scitwi written right into the margins, Administrative Angel by horizon has one of the most amazing endings to an opening chapter ive ever read AND an amazing celestia, The Best Night Ever by Capn_Chryssalid is a fandom classic with a groundhog day twist on the gala episode from s1, Side by Side by Krickis is a feel-good rarijack oneshot w a focus on lgbt (specifically trans) themes, Wax Earplugs by Reedhoarse has a dysfunctional mess of an adagio dazzle that i adore, Merge Request by FanOfMostEverything has all the scitwi/midnight shenanigans you could ask for wrapped up in the relatable content of github hell, Guppy Love by PaulAsaran is a rarijack longfic with an incredibly realistic setting and an interpretation of mermaids that i love so much, Doused Flame by heartlessons has me handshaking on the "sopping wet pathetic relatable guy" flash sentry interpretation that won me over recently, 80 Days 'Til the World's Farthest Shore by Cynewulf feels like reading a professionally published short story (and i mean that in the best of ways, it's enthralling), and finally if you'll allow me to be self-centred a bit i also am very proud of my two oneshots Heartstrings and Something About Midnights if you wanted to check em out too xd

Our Song Season 3 - I came for Liu Yuning, stayed for the comedy of it all

I continue exploring this gorgeous Chinese singing rabbit hole (alternative name - Singing with Legends), and it still delivers. The premise is the same - younger singers join the seniors to perform old and new songs and exchange their experiences.

Humor is strong in this one. In one team there's a comedic duo (quite literally, every time they interact and perform something they make everyone LOL extremely hard) of Xue Zhiqian and Chui Na Li Sha. I had no idea who these people were before the show - I just recommend you watch them live. Their personalities are funny, but their performances are very powerful. He's a very passionate singer with a British rock vibe, she's a slightly overweight girl who acts like a stand-up comedian, has a gorgeous voice. and dreams of becoming a singer. Anyway, all the other members have their funny and exciting moments - the 70-something senior still sings with so much passion! His partner is a cute guy who had to learn lots of Cantonese to sing the songs (which sounds like a totally different language compared to Mandarin, he even used pinyin transcription to be able to read it). Well, the dedication levels are also high, the younger singers do not disappoint.

The host, Mr. Lin, is a 50-ish guy with a smart face and an impeccable taste in suits. He's incredibly intelligent in communicating with everyone, both the babies and the seniors and has a great sense of humor to support all the silliness. This season is really just too funny, I'm enjoying it greatly.

Liu Yuning at one point got paired with 3 gorgeous ladies and came up with a group name National Beauty (well, him included in the list, of course). Seemed so happy, ahah))) I see, you boy XD Two beautiful seniors and a sweet young girl, it's like a dream come true. Anyway, being the only guy in such a rose garden is always a cool choice, but only if a man can pull it off (naturally, he has the looks, the voice, the stage presence, and enough personality to create a beautiful balance with the beauties). You have to love his voice - it never ceases to amaze the audience.

I also have to say that his pairing with Penny Tai is awesome - she's a very open, talented, and easy-going woman, with an amazing voice and lots of emotiveness and charisma, they matched perfectly in their energy and voice ranges. It was hilarious when she met him for the first time, though, that height difference was EVERYTHING XD She's a very petite lady and he looks even taller beside her. They had lots of cute moments together, especially when they discussed how she's too shy to look into a man's eyes when singing (love songs in particular) which they did with LYN all the time. Lots of jokes ensued after that XD But I do have a thing for older women/younger guys combos, and that cute height difference, hehe. Can't help but ship them a little. I think they've paired again in Season 6 of the same show unknowingly XD It must be fate.

Anyway, this season was very emotional, with lots of creativity, beautiful stages, and humor. It's like watching a real-life drama or a musical, singers are very emotional people. Everyone's personalities are also unique, there wasn't a single boring moment on the show.

So. Yeah. Mariko and Yukio haven't gotten to do much in this film.

Fortunately, they carry the final boss fight. Given that this story rightfully belongs to them moreso than Logan, that's pretty cool, actually.

While Viper's out there trying to extract Logan's healing factor, Mariko kicks us off by weaponizing her lampness. Harada comes at her like, "You'll be my lamp now, right?"

HAHAHA GET STABBED FUCKO Princess is rescuing herself from this castle.

Then she does it again immediately after. While Yashida is preparing to slice off Logan's claws with a heated adamantium sword, Mariko jumps in front like "Whatcha gonna do, stab me, YOUR LAMP!?!?"

Yashida's forced to swerve his swing at the last second and accidentally cut the chair open, setting Wolverine free. Though I'm sure there's a hilarious parallel universe where he decapitates Logan instead.

I'm honestly not sure how his sword works? Like. It's an adamantium blade that heats up to be super ultra hot so it can cut through adamantium. But. Like. Wouldn't that weaken the adamantium of the blade? If his blade is so hot that adamantium can be cut through like butter, then the adamantium of the sword should fall apart like butter.

Weird.

Harada switches sides and takes out Viper because she's about to attack Mariko. She didn't do that one on purpose but I'll count it 'cause it's still in a scene where she's weaponizing her lampness and making it work for her.

We all fight with the tools we're given. Agency isn't about how many superpowers she has; It's about what she does with the hand she's dealt.

Which is how we get to the main throwdown for the Final Boss Fight: Wolverine vs. the Silver Samurai.

Viper's fine, mind you. She gets up and starts taking off her clothes while the men are fighting because that's how her regeneration works I guess.

She has to shed her skin like a snake to heal from the arrow. Thematically, it makes sense, though it's funny that the X-franchise found a way to squeeze in another female mutant who has to get naked to use her superpowers.

They're at least more tasteful about it than the preceding films have been with Mystique, however. What you see above is all that's shown. She's shot from collarbone up just for long enough to start ripping off her face and then she's fully dressed next time we see her again.

For Logan's part, this fight goes really badly for him. He loses one set of claws on the catwalk.

And the other near the end of the fight.

He gets fucking worked over like he's never been worked before.

Harada doesn't fare much better.

Japanese Hawkeye shoots an arrow with pinpoint accuracy into the Silver Samurai's eye-slit, but then forgets that he's a ninja again and decides to go reason with him.

So. Y'know. His cause of death is being absolutely terrible at reading the room. And at being a ninja. Fantastic archer, though. Amazing at kyudo. Really should have stuck with that.

So. Yeah. The men are getting fucking shitstomped here. Wolverine does use Harada's stupid, pointless death as an opportunity to figure out the heated adamantium swords and decapitate the Silver Samurai.

But it accomplished fuck-all because it turns out that men are not actually eleven feet tall. That "head" was purely decorative to make the powered armor look cool.

"You fell for my trap of thinking that a man tall enough to wear this like normal actually existed." XD

You know, it's not that surprising that Yashida faked his death in the grand scheme of things. But the reveal that the Super Shredder over here is just a mech suit piloted by a decrepit old man is really funny.

Fortunately, things are going much better for the women. Yukio FINALLY! GETS! TO! BE! COOL!

It's by Designated Girl Fighting with Viper 'cause stories created by men sometimes get really nervous about letting male heroes fight female villains, and will rope in either male villains or female heroes to do it instead. Yeah, I see you, movie that has managed to ensure Wolverine's claws never actually come anywhere near the one female villain in the entire film.

But at this point, I'll take it. Yukio gets to fight someone cool, she gets to look awesome doing it, and she actually wins.

Hangs Viper with a cord and then breaks her neck via leverage. Fuck yes. Eat shit, Viper.

Viper can't just take off her clothes to fix that, I guess, because her neck is broken so her hands don't work anymore. Kryptonite factor.

Meanwhile, the main thrust of the Final Boss Fight is going very, very badly for Wolverine.

Yeah, he. Uh. He loses this fight. Logan loses the Final Boss Fight. In a movie called The Wolverine, Wolverine loses both of his claws, gets incapacitated by the Final Boss, and has his bones drilled into to steal his regeneration.

There will be no sudden turnaround for him. No second wind where he gets a brilliant idea and brings it back around. He just. Fucking. Loses.

Letting the character whose story this really should be instead of him be the one to put an end to it instead.

Taking Logan's own fucking severed claws for herself.

Credit where it's due, she's only able to do this because Logan cut his helmet off earlier. But it's still both surprising and refreshing that it's Mariko, not Logan, who defeats Silver Samurai.

She even does it with a sneak attack via throwing the first blade. Because unlike Harada, she fucking paid attention in Ninja Class.

Logan killsteals with his regenerated bone claws at the very end but. Like. He already has one adamantium blade in his brain and the other in his throat. Yashida had a remaining life expectancy measurable in seconds as it was.

Mariko and Yukio are, surprisingly, the MVPs of this battle. Good for them.

I was wondering if you ever watched any EPIC animatics that you liked? I know you don't like the musical so maybe the answer is just no xD but while I for one like most of the musical, I also was veeeryy iffy about God Games and did not like it one bit, but there are some animatics based on the song that I still love despite my dislike of the song itself haha.

(tho I absolutely despise Six Hundred Strikes to be honest... not sure if even a good animatic could save it for me but who knows what other artists might cook up with it lmaoo)

Of course. Like I said I have nothing against the artists who create (I can only agree or disagree with their artistic choices according to my own tastes like any other form of art) or the musicians behind the singing. All are very dedicated artsist and amazing animators and I appreciate their hard work for what it is regardless of whether I like or dislike the source of their inspiration.

Arguably one of my first introductions to the musical back in the day when I thought it had potential as Odyssey adaptation (before I got disappointed especially in Circe Saga) was through animatics. More specifically I believe one of my first introductions was the last few seconds of "Remember them" through @wolfythewitch animation:

I thought it was perfectly aligning to the spirit of the Odyssey while using the melody. Also this animatic was so beloved to me because the character design resembles the design of a beloved character that I am working with @artsofmetamoor for our stories whose name is Caleb and is from the animated series and comic w.i.t.c.h. In fact I prefer when I hear some of the songs of the musical that I still like to imagine Caleb in there because he is such a better match in my head for the songs! And he conducts himself in a manner similar but also different to Odysseus in our stories!

Generally I adore their animatics and I absolutely appreciate the fact that they try to insert some actual lore details in there, something very hard to find these days (for example Tiresias drinking the blood of the sacrifice)

I believe another animatic that I liked was from the "Warrior of the Mind" by @mircsy

I really loved the fluidity of animation in it as well as the details of transformation or Athena appearing in a mask to signify the recognition. I also liked the inserted details on the boar hunt on Odysseus suggesting a plan and then even teaching it to others to fit the lyrics (yeah this boar thing had nothing to do with the actual boar in the Odyssey but it was very interesting way to show that to animatic). And once again that also gave me Dilla vibes, an OC that I am working with my friend @artsofmetamoor although our OC fits more with what Athena became later in the musical plot for she is a very emotional and engaging person, once again the animatic gave us very good source of inspiration for future projects etc

So yes there are several animatics in specific that I really liked (although I admit I stopped actiely following some of them due to the whole cringe that got over me after Circe and the changes of the plot and on occasion I disagree with some artistic choices here and there although again that has nothing to do with the artists. It is purely on my own perspective) but I really like it when these little detals are inserted there. I also saw some projects on the go that I really loved as a detail and such it is just that I just have the intense dislike for the plot of the musical so I do not follow them actively but sure there are amazing projects out there with really good details

This is my secret tip where I don't give a hoot about the parameters. xD Read any fic that's by enquiring_angel!!!!!!!! Just scroll through the madaobi tag on ao3 and if you see that name, click on it. She has such an amazing grip on the characters, I love her writing so much.

Secret tip: use online translator to read fic

Madaobi has a lot fans in the Chinese community on ao3. Can’t read Mandarin? Use a translator! Often the result will be a bit clunky but I found that once you get used to it, your brain can bridge the gap (like names that get messed up by the translator, or any grammar/sentence structure issues). There are some real gems out there. <3

Finally:

Otherwise, I can only recommend looking on ao3 by yourself. If you filter out any languages you can’t read (and maybe add some tags you prefer), the number of madaobi fics is small enough and not too overwhelming to navigate. (There are probably some fics I missed because I didn’t read them/they’re not up my alley, but might be to your liking?)

You know what time it is! Chaotix Member Tangle headcanons PT 4. Warning: There's a lot of angst

-In an alternate version of the Metal Virus arc, Tangle encounters Charmy slowly being infected, Charmy was scared and constantly begged his sister to help him. Tangle, being obviously horrified, told Charmy to not say anything else anymore and let her deal with it. However, the Metal Virus started to infect her, the most horrific part, it began to fuse body with Charmy's. After they we're infected, they were grotesquely fused together, like Amalgamate from Undertale level of grotesque

-While Tangle and Espio were doing a training session, Espio was noticeably more down and a lot more monotone that day. Tangle and Espio had a talk and Espio confessed that despite his cool demeanor and hardworking nature, he secretly suffered from major depression. Espio's depression was greatly more frequent after the Metal Virus arc, I'm which he had voices in his head to end it and violent thoughts towards himself and his family. Tangle, obviously heartbroken by this, hugged her big bro and became his personal therapist from that day forward.

-Tangle and Charmy's favorite show to watch together is Amphibia, mainly pointing out how their dynamic is similar to that of Anne and Sprig, they would also tease Vector by calling him Hop Pop. They also both had a 1 hour cry session after watching True Colors and The Season 3 finale. Tangle's favorite is Marcy and Charmy's favorite is Ivy, they both despised Sasha at first, but grew to like her during Season 3

-Charmy doesn't like Lanolin mainly because of the way she treats Tangle and the other's. Whenever he visits Restoration HQ, he always sticks his tounge out at her and whenever she tries to talk to Tangle or anyone else, he immediately leaves and would sometimes drag Tangle away. Tangle would notice this and said that it's sometimes her own fault because she sometimes wouldn't take things seriously, but Charmy obviously dismissed her and tells Tangle that Lanolin is the way she is is because she never does things to fix herself and always pour more work onto herself.

-Charmy may be attached to Tangle, but he surprisingly isn't that clingy, whenever she needs to go on a mission alone, Charmy would accept and tell her to do her best to come back home in one piece.

that thing about draxum giving (y/n) the best lunches is a big yes. he’ll give them a whole three course meal that takes account into their preferences, pickiness, allergies, overall tastes, just the best lunch they’ve ever laid their eyes on. and then the next person walks up and just gets a pile of goop, chunks floating around in the unnaturally colored soup, and did something just move inside of it?

also if (y/n) is being bullied he sneaks stuff into their bully’s food that makes them have to skip school for a week but shhh-

he totally lets (y/n) skip the entire line so that their food doesn’t get cold. also lets them skip classes to hang out with him in the kitchen. don’t worry, if the teachers or principal try to confront them, he’ll say he asked them for help preparing lunch, and if they keep pestering him, he’ll just throw their cars into a lake. no biggie.

splinter loves telling (y/n) about his past, going into detail about all the amazing roles he played and all the opponents he took down (though a few stories might be a bit exaggerated in his favor) while also trash talking draxum and big mama like- yeah, draxum’s a genocidal maniac and big mama’s a sadistic psycho, surely you want nothing to do with them, right?

lol big mama just kidnaps them. no use in dancing around the topic, if big mama wants (y/n), she can get it. don’t they see? unlike those two, big mama has the money and resources to absolutely spoil them! all they have to do is let her pamper them, never leave her side, completely forget about draxum and splinter, and anything you could ever want would be in the palm of their hands!

this is probably the one and only situation- other than the world literally ending- draxum and splinter would work together.
